We are now recruiting a cell biologist for an assignment at Cell Protein and Structural Science, AstraZeneca, Mölndal. Starting date is as soon as possible, preferentially the 15 December. The position lasts until 31 March 2010. The Cell, Protein and Structural Science (CPSS) department in Mölndal, Sweden, is a part of the global discovery organization of AstraZeneca. CPSS delivers cells and proteins for assays and screening, provides information on protein-ligand interactions and drives the exploitation of structural information in drug discovery projects. The laboratory has around 60 scientists working in various disciplines: Cell science, Protein science, Biophysics, NMR spectroscopy and Protein crystallography. The Cell and Protein Science section delivers cells and proteins for screening and structural studies as well as scientific input in the drug discovery process. We are looking for a scientist with hands on experience of animal cell culturing. The main responsibility of this position is to culture mammalian cells for expression of recombinant proteins to support high throughput assays. The job will include freezing, thawing and characterization of mammalian cells, the scale-up of mammalian cell up to multi-layer "cell factories", membrane preparation at various scales, preparation of cryopreserved assay to ready cells and maintenance of various cell lines. Proficient in the use of sensitive and sometimes complex equipment . Good organization skills, motivated and delivery focused . Excellent communication skills are required. Minimum specific competence: . Education within biological or medical science (Fil Kand or Fil Mag). . Working experience of > 1 year in culturing of attachment dependent cells (tissue culture flasks) including freezing, thawing and interpretation of cell culture data. .
