We are looking for a Fluid dynamic specialist who will be in charge of performing Fluid Dynamics Calculations (CFD) aimed at: .[[[ the 5MW Target design; the target is composted of a compact heavy liquid metal loop or by solid [[[ heavy metal cooled by water or helium flow, .[[[ Moderators design (the moderators are cryogenic hydrogen loops), .[[[ Water loops design (different water loops are necessary to extract power deposited in the [[[ systems surrounding the 5MW target).These simulations will be performed in close interaction with other specialists, such as neutronic and thermo-mechanical specialists.In addition, the selected candidate will have to: .[[[ validate methods and tools for CFD simulations, including the organisation of CFD benchmarking [[[ tests and experimental investigations; .[[[ interact with material damage experts, thermo-mechanical [[[ simulation specialists and neutronic simulation specialists; .[[[ review and validate external CFD simulations performed by external research centres [[[ participating in the ESS collboration.Qualifications/prerequisites .University degree in engineering or physics .Expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics .Experience in thermo-mechanical calculations .Experience in nuclear facilities environment[[[ .Experience simulating liquid metal systems is highly desirable .Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team .Motivation to work with tight schedules and challenging technical constraints .Experience of working in an international environment is essential .Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage Description of department Currently, the Target Station Division is composed of nine people and will expand up to around 20 in the next two years.The Target Station Division is responsible for the various systems which will be designed and built, either in the Division or by the collaborative Research Institutes in Europe, and which will be part of the ESS project.Covering very different aspects of a large-scale scientific facility, domains of expertise extend from particles simulation, advanced thermo-mechanical studies or computing fluid dynamic to systems associated to a nuclear facility.Due to its central position within the ESS, Target Station Division interacts with all the other Division of ESS: Accelerator, Science, Conventional facilities.Location Primarily based in Lund, Sweden.However, regular travel,(once or twice a month) mainly within Europe is foreseen.Duration Permanent position Application & Contact Please provide your curriculum vitae and covering letter in English.It is a requirement of our application process that the names and contacts details (e-mail address and phone number) of three references be provided.The deadline for applications is 15th February 2011.We intend to carry out the first stage interviews between 2nd and 4th March 2011, so please note this in your calendar.
