CFD Engineer - Contamination

The Contamination and Core CFD section, belonging to Environment & Fluid Dynamics department, has a long tradition of using CFD as a tool for engineering and design processes. We are currently 16 persons working within the areas; contamination (exterior soiling) & cleaning (windscreen wiper and washer system), CFD climate comfort and CFD aero acoustics. We also support our sister sections Thermodynamics and Aerodynamics with analysis and method development know-how. The Cleaning/Contamination part of the section are responsible for attribute requirements, planning and performing both CFD analysis and physical test in all phases of vehicle programs, both individually and in teams.
As CFD Engineer within the Contamination section you will be involved in planning and performing CFD analysis in all phases of vehicle programs as well as support and involvement in our physical testing. You will also be the contact person in a number of Contamination vehicle projects towards our Department Program Office and support the department's method development projects to meet our future challenges. You will establish and develop relationships with representatives from many areas of the vehicle meaning you will build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Car Group. Main responsibilities
* Plan and perform Contamination CFD simulations and give recommendation of design changes to reach Cleaning/Contaminations requirement targets
* Develop CAE working processes, CFD methods and tools within the area cleaning/contamination (wiper and washer system, windscreen and head lamp cleaning)
* Contact person within Contamination Vehicle projects
* Supervising thesis workers and act as a mentor for new employees
* Plan and carry out CFD analysis within the cleaning and contamination attribute
* Strengthen the product impact by means of CFD
Required qualifications
* MSc within Fluid Dynamics or Applied Physics Engineering or equivalent experience in combination with a BSc. A Ph.D in Fluid Dynamics are meritorious
* At least 1-3 years of industrial and/or academic experience in CFD
* Experience in more than one of the following softwares: OpenFoam, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, Harpoon, EnSight, ANSA, Matlab
* Experience from automotive CFD including at least one of the following attributes are highly meritorious; contamination, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, climate comfort and aero acoustics
* Experience in programming/scripting is meritorious
* Drivers license B (car)
