Arbetsbeskrivning
The road transportation industry is currently undergoing a major transformation towards higher efficiency, reduced environmental footprint and in extension full electrification, where aerodynamics is a key factor.
Scania, already exceling in this field, has ambitious goals to maintain a leading position in providing efficient and sustainable transport solutions - and this is your chance to join our team!
The Aerodynamics team at Scania has a wide range of responsibilities in monitoring and developing the aerodynamic properties of both trucks and buses, within different external flow related aspects such as drag, soiling, aeroacoustics and more. The development work is done cross functionally through advanced technical simulations and wind tunnel testing, in close collaboration with the engineering and styling departments.
About the position
You will participate in projects within complete vehicle development, where you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing and propose creative solutions to solve conflicts between engineering, styling and aerodynamic performance. Together with designers and styling engineers you will generate optimized design for a better future.
During a typical week you will apart from some Swedish fika and chatting with colleagues, perform CFD simulations and provide feedback based on your results. Time is also spent on documentation and presenting findings to cross-functional teams and management.
Tasks involves planning and executing CFD analysis, including all the necessary steps from extraction and preparation of CAD data and meshing to interpretation of the results. The tools currently used for aerodynamic simulations include the ANSA pre-processor and the PowerFLOW software suite.
Since the Aerodynamics team is also responsible for wind tunnel testing, your future activities could also include to prepare for and conduct wind tunnel tests.
Your profile
• You hold a Master of Science in Aerodynamics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with great understanding of fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.
• You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in CFD calculations, preferably in the automotive industry.
As a person, you are organized, quality-conscious and analytical. You have good social skills and the ability to convey your technical knowledge in an instructive, easy-to-understand way, both orally and in written reports.
Other preferred skills are programing, experience in multi-phase and/or aero-acoustic simulations, wind tunnel testing, and experience from working with models using ANSA and PowerFlow.
We are looking forward to applicants with a standout ability, together with design and testing, to quickly come up with concepts and ideas on how to improve both vehicle and processes.
