Subject area description: The subject area is experimental surface physics and chemistry with emphasis on multifunctional organic materials within the areas of organic electronics, or organic magnetic materials or organic spintronic materials. The electronic structure of the materials is central to this chair, studied with different techniques, in particular photoelectron spectroscopy. It is also desirable to develop synthesis of novel materials. The line of research of the professor is expected to have a strong coupling to the major research areas of the University: Materials Science, Nanoscience, and/or Life Science Technologies. The demands on academic leadership are high.
Duties: The position as Professor involves research, teaching, and administrative duties. These duties include heading the Surface Physics and Chemistry Division, comprehensive responsibility for research within the subject area, thesis supervision, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and taking active part in administration of the division. The successful candidate will be responsible for extensive laboratory facilities and should have demonstrated skills and knowledge in the currently important experimental techniques such as photoelectron spectroscopy as well as the development of research programs using synchrotron radiation as a key part of the experimental focus.
The research conducted should strengthen the materials research and nanoscience profile of Linköping University. Collaboration with theoretical groups is expected.
Academic leadership, mainly administrative and organizational tasks in both education and research related to the Chair's research field, is a prime responsibility of the Chair. The holder of the Chair is also expected to initiate and conduct collaborative research projects to strengthen the department's external funding.
