Chalmers Astronomy and Plasma Physics Fellow

Chalmers Astronomy and Plasma Physics Fellow

Arbetsbeskrivning

Information about the division and the project
Astronomy and plasma physics (AoP) division at the Space, Earth and Environment (SEE) department at Chalmers hosts about 45 staff members involved in research activities such as active galactic nucleii, evolved stars, exoplanets, galaxy evolution, interstellar medium, star formation, as well as turbulence and transport in tokamaks and general fusion plasma physics. The division also collaborates with the Onsala Space Observatory that hosts, e.g., the Nordic ALMA Regional Center node, and is the SKA center for Sweden. The fusion research activities are aligned with the integrated European fusion research programme implemented by the EUROfusion consortium, which for example conducts experiments on several European fusion devices, such as JET. There are also close links to the ITER project.

The AoP division seeks for an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to carry out an independent research program that stimulates cross-field collaborations between the research fields of the division. The project has a high degree of independence, generous research budget, and ample possibilities for collaborations.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as an AoP Fellow is to lead your own research program that is highly synergistic with the scientific interests at AoP and involves collaboration with several faculty members. The position includes an expectation to engage in building collaborative activities also beyond the immediate research project and participate in building a positive, inclusive work environment at the division (see the AoP homepages for a topic and staff list).

To qualify for these postdoc fellowship positions, you must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field by the start date of the position, or awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
