Chalmers e-Commons seeks six new co-workers

Arbetsbeskrivning

Chalmers is further developing and expanding its expert hub and entry point for digital research and innovation. Take part in building this strategic effort at Chalmers, enabling novel answers to major research challenges!

About Chalmers e-Commons
Chalmers e-Commons is a university-wide initiative to further empower researchers and innovators at Chalmers by providing support, collaborative projects and access to resources for the full range of digital aspects of research. Building on several earlier efforts and a top-level strategic decision, Chalmers e-Commons provides a unique set of integrated digital resources for researchers and innovators.

The activities of Chalmers e-Commons are based on a data-centric perspective, covering all phases of the research data life-cycle from planning, over management and large-scale computing/analysis/visualisation in active projects, to long-term preservation, data sharing and data publishing. Chalmers e-Commons also provides and facilitates access to a span of local, national and international e-infrastructure resources for large-scale computing and data storage/management. Here, the initiative hosts and coordinates Chalmers participation in national e-infrastructures such as SNIC/NAIS and SND. Chalmers e-Commons is also the entry point and coordinates Chalmers participation in European initiatives like EOSC and access to computing resources in EuroHPC. Currently, Chalmers e-Commons is taking a leading role in several new initiatives. For example, Chalmers e-Commons hosts Chalmers operational activities in InfraVis, the new national research infrastructure for visualization. Chalmers e-Commons also host the development of the Swedish Square Kilometer Array (SKA) e-infrastructure node In collaboration with Onsala Space Observatory, and will in the near future – together with Chalmers research infrastructure for computational systems biology - set up the Data Science Node for Cell- and Molecular Biology in the large, national Data Driven Life Science (DDLS) initiative.

To implement e-Commons strategic goals, the existing expertise needs to be expanded and complemented. In a concerted actions, we are now hiring three Digital Research Engineers and three large-scale computer system experts: Chalmers e-Commons is expanding and is currently moving in to new offices, co-located with the Chalmers AI Research Center (CHAIR). The new offices will be designed to allow for efficient work in hybrid on-site/remote teams, and for the new positions we are open to discuss potential specific requests for working remotely. At the new offices, Chalmers e-Commons will host a vibrant community of Digital Research Engineers, collaborating with researchers, research initiatives and research infrastructures to advance research and innovation in all areas at Chalmers and coordinating expert networks within the university. The offices will also host a group of computer system experts, developing, building and managing the local and national resources for large-scale computing and data storage at Chalmers and providing user support.

At Chalmers e-Commons, you will be part of a team with diverse backgrounds and fields of expertise, sharing the mission of building and developing a novel integrated hub for enabling digitalised research and innovation and empowering researchers and innovators at Chalmers and giving them a competitive advantage. Within e-Commons, our staff are our greatest resource. Our goal is to invest in your professional development through trainings, in-house knowledge sharing and discussions on career planning.
