Sandvik Machining Solutions (SMS) is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a global market-leading manufacturer of tools and tooling systems for advanced industrial metal cutting. Products are manufactured in cemented carbide and other hard materials such as diamond, cubic boron nitride and special ceramics.
In order to meet future strategic ambitions, where one important part will be to improve production effectiveness, a Production Unit Transformation Program (PUTP) is established. A central team, working globally, responsible for supporting local PUs' implementation of operational excellence is now under buildup. The team will support frontline and shop floor implementation, as well as coach middle and top management. In addition this team will also develop and conduct training programs directly linked to the PUTP. We are now looking for Change Leaders who will have an overall responsibility to drive the rollout of the PUTP.
Key performance areas
As a Change Leader you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the SMS production system globally in all production units (PUs). You will ensure that the approach is standardized and codified, and act as support for Inserts, Tools and Round Tools directors in the rollout of the PU transformation in their respective areas of responsibility.
Other areas of responsibility include:
- Coach and train local Change Leaders in PUs
- Support and deliver training for leaders and employees, with emphasis on the SMS production system (LEAN) and change management
- Assessment of plants to identify potential and develop improvement plans for realization
- Support and facilitate cross-plant learning and transformation program improvement
- Train operators & managers on improvement approaches, methods and tools, as part of the shop-floor improvements
- Support implementation (stepping in as a change leader) in challenging situations
- Implement necessary support structures to ensure sustainability: e.g. performance management and organizational changes
- Coach and challenge Senior Managers through a demanding change process
Extensive travel is required for this position; expect more than 100 travel days per year.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a BSc. or equivalent experience. We expect that you have previous experience from leadership positions (e.g. plant manager, production manager, or project manager), as well as a background and knowledge in manufacturing, ideally with experience from implementation of LEAN and exposure to change management. The position requires excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, while skills in other languages are advantageous.
To succeed in the position it is important that you have an interest in - and experience from - project management. As a person you are driven, have an analytical approach and good ability to prioritize, organize and plan your work in an efficient manner. You are business oriented, creative and flexible, with strong interpersonal skills. This position places major demands on your leadership skills. You are perceptive and easily create a trusting environment for collaboration, while inspiring and motivating your co-workers to create sustainable results order to reach the business' goals.
