Salary: SEK 376,768 gross per annum (based on a 40 hour week)

Term Details: This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in Sweden.

Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Head of Mission, oversees all culinary aspects of a mission, including the planning, creation, and preparation of meals for official and unofficial events (includes formal and informal luncheons, dinners, cocktails and receptions) and the maintenance of the food inventory and kitchen supplies.
Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Only those candidates who have all the essential qualifications and demonstrate this clearly within their application will then proceed to the next stage of the process.
Language: Oral and written proficiency in English and Swedish
Education: Professional qualification in cooking/cuisine or equivalent* training and experience
*Equivalent means 2 years of relevant experience over and above that specified below
Experience:
•Minimum 2 years of recent experience (within the past 5 years) as a Chef/Cook working in a restaurant, hospitality, diplomatic mission/international organization, catering service, or similar environment in the food and beverage industry
•Preparing meals for events of at least 10 guests
•Preparing a vast array of types of foods, for example appetizers, main courses, baked goods, etc.
•Cooking International and European foods
Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
•Health & Safety and food hygiene/cleanliness standards and procedures
•Culinary management/procedures, including cooking techniques, food management, international menu planning, and catering to specific dietary requirements
•Managing food stock ordering and inventories, including costing and budgets
•Basic computer use, including internet and Microsoft Office Suite
Abilities/Competencies:
•Organizational skills
•Teamwork and effective interactive communication
•Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision
•Flexible and adaptable
•Professional integrity
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
•Proficiency in French
•Fluency in English or Swedish
•Knowledge of Canadian cuisine and Canadian recipes
•Experience with organizing hospitality events for diplomatic missions
•Experience supervising kitchen staff
•Experience cooking for large events of over 45 guests
Organizational Needs:
Operational Requirements:
•Normal work week of 40 hours per week
•Ability and willingness to work overtime outside of office hours (early morning / late at night) and during weekends, sometimes with very short notice
•Ability to lift and carry sometimes heavy items or food bags (approx. 35kg)
•Ability to stand and work with your hands for extended periods of time
•Willingness to be assigned a corporate credit card in your name
