You will have the opportunity to join our team in developing next generation’s "green" and sustainable ingredients for the personal care and health care industries. We are looking for a chemist with an analytical mindset who enjoys experimental work. Based at our site in Lund in Sweden, you will have the benefit of working closely with others in a small team as well as the wider opportunities that come with being part of a larger company.
About us
Enza Biotech is based in Lund and operates as a Research and Development department in Croda and undertakes research projects for new product development, with a special focus on developing "green" and sustainable ingredients for the personal care- and health care industries.
The role
The successful candidate will carry out research and contribute to the development of novel processes for the production of new compounds. You will participate in new product development from the optimization of synthetic methods to the development of industrially viable processes and work closely with the team to come up with new ideas and innovations. You will be responsible for planning and running multiple projects and carrying out experiments of varying complexity to deliver new products on time to the business. You will be reviewing the results and seek answers to problems encountered through collection of data and investigation, and you will be expected to propose how to proceed with the next experiment/stage of the project. Typically projects can range from a couple of days to six months. The job will also include the use of analytical techniques, primarily HPLC, to characterize the produced compounds.
Skills and qualifications
It is important that you enjoy experimental work and have the analytical mindset to interpret the results from lab experiments. The job requires strong skills in documenting results in lab note books, writing reports and preparing documentation such as SOPs and presentations. Knowledge of safe laboratory practices is important. You will work closely together with the rest of the team and become an important team member, and therefore good communicative and collaborative skills are important.
Required:
- MSc in Chemistry or similar
- Fluent in English, both in oral and written form
- Hands-on experience with HPLC and IC analysis
Preferred:
- Experience in design, optimisation and scale-up of conversion processes and downstream processes
- Skilled in Excel
- Biocatalysis experience
