Surface Chemistry, a business unit of AkzoNobel, operates in 50 countries, employing over 1500 people. Based in Chicago, IL, United States, with regional marketing centers in Bridgewater, NJ, United States, Singapore and Stenungsund, Sweden, we are leading supplier of specialty surfactants and synthetic and bio-polymers additives. The Section Product and Process Research & Measurement Analytical Science (MAS) within R&D EMEIA constitutes of two groups. MAS and PPR including Pilot Plant. The section provides knowledge and expertise within these areas in order to provide support to our customers, the application groups, to the plants and to other Business Units within AkzoNobel. One of our colleagues is going on parental leave and therefore we need a temporary replacement. We are now looking for a Chemist position within the MAS group during the time from May to November 2015. Responsibilities In the role as Chemist you will: - Independently run analytical assignments and in accordance to prioritizations both for internal and external customers, and interpret the results - Work with identification and quantification questions related to new product development, customer complaints, trouble shooting in the plant etc. - Identify new (scientific) developments, generate new research opportunities for own area of expertise and share these with other professionals. - Actively follow and report on the technical and scientific development witin the designated field of speciality as well as develop, implement and improve methods and techniques with the aim to have updated, modern and effiecent analytical methods that suits the upcoming business needs. - Work to develop, implement, validate and take responsibility of analytical methods and instruments with the aim to have accurate and reliable analytical methods that fulfills quality demands and HSE legislations. - Take an active part in the lab by contributing to housekeeping in a positive way and propose changes that promote safety, quality, reliability and efficiency. - Participate in research projects, ensure execution and delivery using own area of expertise (science and technology). Develop and maintain good knowledge in at least one of the key areas of the department.

Utbildning/Erfarenhet

To be successful in this position you hold MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant experience. You are a good communicator, both in writing and verbally, and of course good knowledge in English. As a person you are accurate, structured and result oriented. On a personal level you are proactive and enjoy working both independently and in team. You have clear ability to work organized and have good communication and interpersonal skills, are fluent in English and Swedish, both written and spoken.
