Chief Designer User Experience

Volvo Group Design is looking for creative Chief Designers User Experience, to direct our industrious and forward moving teams, designing digital products and solutions for the Volvo brand.


Volvo Group Design is the center of design for all the Group’s brands and business areas, designing products, digital applications and services at the three studios located in Gothenburg (Sweden), Lyon (France) and Greensboro (NC, US).


Volvo Group is in an intense phase, pushing boundaries into new technology areas and innovative fields of design, to be at the top of our business. The Chief Designer roles we are looking for, will be key roles in building a strong digital strategy and vision together with the Design Directors for Volvo Trucks, Volvo Autonomous Solutions, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Buses and Volvo Penta, and lead the design work to bring results with customer focus.


Leadership of design
The Chief Designer role is supporting the Design Directors in the creative development work in the Gothenburg studio, focusing on the Volvo brand. The work stretches from onboard vehicle applications to multiple offboard and web applications. The role does not have direct reports, but leads development teams locally and globally across the Volvo Group, as a creative leader for the Volvo brand design in the various platform and application projects.


An exciting role for a curious mind
We expect you to have a university degree in design and at least 5 years of UX design experience, where you might have worked with transportation design. You bring in-depth understanding of efficient software development processes, as well as service design methodologies to provide customer insight and fact based problem definitions. You have good general understanding of product development processes.
It’s great if you also have experience from coaching a creative and diverse team, providing motivation and structure to get the best out of people. You are a person with passion for innovation, to bring better solutions for the benefit of our customers and the planet.
