We are now looking for a Chief Marketing Officer to join our team in Stockholm.


Role & Responsibilities:
Storytel is seeking an experienced, full stack Chief Marketing Officer to lead the business through its next phase of growth. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a full-funnel marketing strategy encompassing every stage of the Storytel customer lifecycle journey. They will work with Storytel’s wider management team to unlock new, creative ways to expand Storytel’s audience and develop and execute a clear internationalisation strategy across the EMEA and North America regions.
Underpinned by a clear positioning and sound understanding of Storytel’s customer segments / proposition, the CMO will translate the brand into efficient marketing initiatives reaching millions of customers over the next few years, while ensuring a holistic and inspiring customer experience. They will equally have an in-depth understanding of how to build and continuously improve a world class performance marketing engine, establishing a high performance and motivated team across all channels including performance marketing, affiliate marketing, influence marketing, SEO, CRM, PR, Content and Brand. Further to this, the CMO will also play an instrumental role in the company’s product tiering, pricing strategy, and promotional strategy, leveraging data and research to define what Storytel’s product is and how it is packaged.
The incoming CMO will:
Devise, bring to life and oversee the delivery of a visionary, disruptive and transformational marketing strategy to expand the Storytel brand internationally, and ensure that all marketing activities and communications support that strategy.
Build, scale and lead a best-in-class marketing structure, passionate and determined to experiment and deliver a leading range of products and ideas to market.
Utilise authentic and emotional storytelling to drive brand engagement and foster customer loyalty, delivering messages consistently across all channels. Hone a community-first approach to accelerate brand momentum and propel Storytel into a global brand that is underpinned by clear positioning, architecture and visual identity.
Optimise Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Payback Period and Cost per Acquisition (CPA) Strategies.
Develop a deep understanding of Storytel’s target customers and their use cases to create effective positioning and messaging frameworks.
Develop, champion and instill an analytical and data-driven approach to all marketing activities,
ensuring they are optimised and targeted so that marketing investment efficiently drives awareness, acquisition, monetisation and activation..
Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to ensure customer insight is fed into the prioritisation of the product roadmap, to improve clarity around the customer value proposition and overall demand.



Candidate Requirements
The incoming CMO will bring:
10+ years of marketing experience in a management or entrepreneurial role of significant scale, relevant to Storytel’s context - candidates may bring this from the streaming industry or the wider entertainment sector, ideally with subscription experience.
Deep understanding of product-led businesses that have frequent repeat purchases and a strong focus on acquisition and retention.
Proven experience of operating on a global basis with solid knowledge of differing consumer behaviors and success in influencing consumer and business behaviors across geographies.
Track record in effectively managing stakeholders within a highly matrixed organisation.
A track record of developing a brand vision or complete rebrand, with a particular emphasis on content, social and community marketing.
Holistic knowledge of all marketing levels (growth + strategic marketing + brand + data) with the ability to combine a data-driven obsession with creativity.
Track record in building and growing a strong marketing team across performance marketing, affiliate marketing, influence marketing, SEO, CRM, PR, brand & comms.
A highly sophisticated data driven marketing mindset with significant experience in marketing campaign optimisation. Will be highly analytical, strongly metrics KPI driven, with a structured approach to problem solving.
Experience of turning around and scaling a disruptive, high-growth business in a relevant context and leading an iconic brand through an evolutionary stage. Will excel within high energy, fast growth, entrepreneurial environments, with the agility and adaptability to work at a continuously fast pace.

Results oriented and highly analytical, willing to dive into metrics, build robust models and develop best in class strategies to drive the growth and profitability of the business through identifying new channels and opportunities.

Decisive leader who can be persuasive and make decisions while listening and incorporating the perspectives of others, capable of balancing and productively resolving timelines in order to deliver against the company’s vision and goals.
Believer in the Storytel mission, passionate about supporting and advancing the content side of the business and supporting different revenue streams with equal priority.
