We are looking for a certified breast surgeon for one of Denmark's largest breast centers at the Zealand University Hospital, located in the beautiful city of Roskilde, just 30 km from Copenhagen. Relocation assistance and language training are, amongst other benefits, offered to foreign doctors.

The Section of Breast Surgery is part of the Department for Breast Surgery and Plastic Surgery. The Section is in a period of strong development and expansion with the vision to become an internationally renowned breast center in the next few years. The department and the interdisciplinary breast center provide all aspects of breast cancer diagnostic and treatment. The vision of our Breast Section is to perform clinically and scientifically at the highest standards with a focus on patient-centered and highly individualized care.
With our profound clinical and scientific knowledge and experience in oncoplastic breast surgery and breast reconstruction, we are able to provide excellent reconstructive treatment options to our patients. Our goal is that all patients receive an excellent and individual treatment plan shortly after cancer diagnosis and that our patients are best informed at every stage of their treatment course.
A standardized BREAST-Q based follow-up program enables quality control and a continuous evaluation of our own work.
About the Department for Breast Surgery and Plastic Surgery
The department has 31 physicians and more than 90 staff members that will support you every day and will be more than happy to help you onboard and integrate into our team and the Danish culture.
The department is the leading interdisciplinary partner for breast cancer treatment and runs 29 operating rooms weekly (10-12 only for breast surgery). Moreover, our unit is one of Denmark's largest breast centers with more than 750 new breast cancer diagnoses per year.
Our Breast Section contains international experts in oncoplastic breast surgery (breast surgeons), which is one of our focus areas both clinically and scientifically. We have a strong focus on educating new breast surgeons. Currently, 5 surgical specialists are undergoing a 2-year fellowship program to become a certified breast surgeon in Denmark.
Great work conditions and research opportunities
The close contact to the Plastic Surgery section within the department gives breast surgeons in our section an ideal opportunity to collaborate closely on autologous reconstructions.
As a chief physician you will receive fixed weekly OR-days and you will be able to see your patients in your own clinic together with a highly educated breast nurse. Furthermore, you will receive administrative time to work on clinical or scientific projects. There is also a possibility to be trained in oncoplastic surgery with a specialized surgical supervisor.
The department has a major focus on research and development. Our research unit supports all research interests and ideas of our attending surgeons and we have several national and international research collaborations.
The department is affiliated with the University of Copenhagen. Two clinical associate professors are responsible for teaching. The department is also part of the teaching department for the specialist medical education in surgery and plastic surgery.
Zealand University Hospital, which today is located in both the city of Roskilde and the city of Koege, will move together into one of the most modern new hospital buildings in Europe in Koege by 2025.

The applicant is employed on a permanent contract with salary and terms of employment in accordance with the Danish collective agreement for chief physicians between "Danish Medical Association" (FAS) and Region Zealand. Salary supplement will be subject to negotiation and depending on your skills.
You are:
- A certified breast surgeon with passion and empathy
- Familiar with the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for breast cancer treatment in an interdisciplinary context
- Highly interested in treating breast cancer patients with an optimal cosmetic outcome and to monitor your patients outcome with patient reported outcome measures to optimize your own treatment
- A team player with collaborative skills and drive
- An academic surgeon with research interest and with a mindset that fits into an University Hospital and the vision of the department
A doctor from an EU country in order to be able to have your authorization automatically approved by the Danish health authorities
