The field of cardiology is organized under the Cardio and pulmonary department, which in turn is part of the medical clinic. Overall, this department covers the vast majority of cardiac diseases with the exception of invasive cardiology and other specialised subjects. The position is in charge of pacemaker surgery for all of the Fonna Health Trust.
There is a lot of activity at the cardiology outpatient clinic responsible for recovery and monitoring of cardio patients in the region. There is a newly established emergency outpatient clinic for rapid intervention for patients with suspected coronary diseases. This a highly professional environment at the forefront of cardiology. There are a total of 5 chief physician positions, 4 of which are filled by experienced cardiologists. The department does a lot of work with internal medicine and cardiology education.
