Circuits and Sensors: CAD Designer

This position belongs to department 91533 - Circuits and Sensors within Powertrain Control Systems, Product Development, Volvo Powertrain Sweden, located in Gothenburg.Powertrain Control Systems develop control systems for engines and powertrains for the different products of the Volvo Group.This includes electric hardware design of control units, sensors, and harnesses, as well as software development and optimization.The department consists of about 140 people in ten groups.The assignment is organised within the Circuits and Sensors group which is responsible of developing sensors and harnesses for local and global engine projects.The group currently consists of 10 members and now needs to be strengthened with a new member Job description/Purpose/Responsibilities As an EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems) CAD engineer you will be responsible for the routing of the harness in different local engine projects.The 3D work is done in ProE/CATIA V5 and in conjunction to the packaging work you will also work with Saber to conclude the packaging with the electrical schematics. You will be involved in EDS related questions through concept phases up to serial production.You will be responsible of releasing technical documentation as drawings and product structure. You will work in a close cooperation with engine projects and component owners through all subsystems on the various engine projects lead by the Gothenburg site.You will also take an active part in installation reviews and by that take responsibility that the harnesses are installed according to design demands.A close co-operation with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing and aftermarket will also be a natural part of the assignment.As we are a global company with design offices in USA, France & Brazil there will also be a need of establishing contacts with your counter parts on those sites.Profile .You have an open and positive attitude; you are flexible and able to take own initiatives..You are an open-minded person, respect different points of view and are able to establish effective working relations with people from different backgrounds. .You feel comfortable with having a lot of different tasks in work simultaneously .The job is dependent of a good network within and outside the company; therefore your ability to communicate effectively and to work with persons on different levels and in different areas is essential.
