You will join the Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department to participate in the maintenance, operation and consolidation of buildings and infrastructures, with a strong focus on sewerage, service networks and roads activities on the CERN sites.
Functions
As a worksite technician, you will:
- Collect, prioritize and process work requests from users and managers related to the sewerage, services and road networks;
- Contribute to projects in the design and execution phases until reception by the users;
- Plan, coordinate and execute renovations, new and repair projects in your areas of expertise;
- Oversee and monitor the work by verifying safety, cost, quantities, quality and schedule compliance with applicable norms, procedures and regulations;
- Contribute to technical documents elaboration for invitations to tender or calls of tender in agreement with all the CERN departments concerned;
- Manage and improve existing service and frame contracts (quality/cost/delay);
- Periodically document and report on your activities.
Qualifications
Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of civil engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in managing sewerage, service networks and roads works and projects with full responsibility throughout the whole project lifecycle, ideally in large sites in the industrial and/or scientific environments.
- Proven experience in managing projects for the operation, maintenance and renovation of roads, networks and sewerage systems.
- Proven experience in managing service contracts.
- Experience in procurement processes (definition of procurement strategy, selection of firms, and call for tenders, etc.).
The following experiences are an asset:
- Knowledge of sanitation and environmental protection.
- Proven experience in landscaping works and their corresponding standards and regulations.
- Experience in building (concrete/steel structure) works.
Technical competencies:
- Building diagnostics: in particular for the sanitation service chain.
- Contract management.
- Project management.
- Use of office software packages: (Excel, MS project).
- Technical knowledge of sewerage, networks and roads systems (CH/FR regulations and norms).
- Design and execution of road, excavation, drainage and maintenance works.
Behavioural competencies:
- Managing self: taking initiative beyond regular tasks and making things happen.
- Optimising resources: realistically assessing human and financial resource needs, evaluating risks and plans accordingly. Effectively managing budget, optimizing human and financial resources.

Language skills:
Spoken and written French or English: ability to draw up technical texts in one of the two languages, as well as ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts.

Employment Conditions
Contract type:
Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.
These functions require:
- Work in Radiation Areas.
- Interventions in underground installations.
- A valid driving licence is required.
- Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
- Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
