Civil Structural Design Manager

We are building a state-of-the-art Gigafactory that will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe and construction is set to begin in 2023. To make that happen we need the best to join our in-house Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) team. About the role
In this position you will play a key role in our multidisciplinary Construction Organization in building the new Gigafactory. As Civil Structural Design Manager you will be manager for the Civil Structural team, within the Engineering organization. You will report to the Director of Construction Engineering and have the overall responsibility to develop and optimize the Civil and Structural design of the Gigafactory. The work involves close collaboration with other disciplines, departments, and stakeholder to drive the project forward successfully.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the continuous development and optimization of the civil and structural design.
- Create and facilitate a strong team environment.
- Manage and support the development and growth of team members.
- Collaborate with the multi-discipline engineering team to generate holistic design solutions.
- Support sustainability experts to ensure a low carbon design for construction.
- Develop data driven decision making process for engineering decision, including use of associated software.
- Support project controls and cost team to track, develop and optimize the project cost estimate.
- Support strategic decisions with regards to Civil and Structural engineering and procurement.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving Civil and Structural design throughout the project phases.
- Closely collaborate with Construction department to ensure project progress according to time plan.
- Communicate priorities and drive timely process change requests and change orders to fulfill project milestones.
- Become a backbone of the EPCM team, supporting on developing the organization accordingly to Company mission and supporting hand in hand team members.

Your Background
We are looking for a Civil Structural Design Manager with a strong technical background and proven leadership skills. Ideally you have experience from large industrial projects with multinational teams. You have a hands-on approach to problem solving and lead by example. The person we are looking for is driven, caring and structured. You thrive by leading others and work towards common goals. You are used to a high paced work environment and got good time management skills. Qualities that we cherish are flexibility, high quality standards, friendliness and motivation to take on new challenges.

Essential

- BSc or MSc degree in within relevant field: Civil or structural engineering, Construction management or similar.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience with 5 years of experience from large scale industrial projects in a leading position.
- Knowledge in general conditions of contract for building, civil engineering works and building services like AB 04, ABT 06, ABK 09, FIDIC and SSG.
- Experience in large-scale construction projects with considerable multidisciplinary complexity, experience within general contractor or EPC organization environment is an added value.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Must have the ability to discuss technical topics with a variety of audiences – contractors, engineers, and members of various divisions within organization. Swedish is a plus.

- Experience from Greenfield Projects is highly preferred.
- Experience from Swedish construction sites is preferred.
- Highly organized and results-driven approach
- Self-performing attitude with the strong skill to contribute on team effort
