Do you have bigger shoes than the average person, loves tractors and knows how to zig the zag when it comes to being a Cloud Engineer at the best EdTech workplace* in Europe? Probably not, but that’s one way of describing our former colleague (whom you will be replacing), and since we seldom look for new people to this team - because people normally like it here and stay for long - we’re not quite sure how to begin this job ad. About the role:

The role as Cloud Engineer includes the responsibility that together with your co-workers handle and manage our IT operations, maintenance and hosting environments.

You will join a team consisting of 13 members with different backgrounds and skillsets, located within our Cloud Services unit which is a part of our Corporate Services. The role includes helping co-workers in other departments in nine offices in four countries with operational issues, handling of applications and other types of troubleshooting on a daily basis. You will also provide input and feedback on how to continuously work with optimizing both performance and economy, for our internal customers as well as external parties. The role is based at our HQ in Växjö, close to the town center and the Växjö lake. Taking walk and talks around the lake instead of regular meetings is fully optional but will be encouraged since your manager is a trail run fanatic.

Other things on your agenda will be to ensure that our environments, systems and infrastructure are updated, production ready and secure. You will also work with environment monitoring and surveillance meanwhile supporting our development and operation teams, as well as from time to time help with the purchasing of different types of hardware. The role also includes some standby/on-call duty.

A Cloud engineer at IST daily work also consists of working with Enterprise storage and server solutions that is hosted with our own hardware in a data center in Denmark. Virtualization is the core in most of our applications and we are now progressing to our next generation platform that is driven towards Kubernetes. Main parts of our systems is running on Linux and on top of VmWare. But we also work with Oracle Vm and databases. We use hardware from Cisco such as networks and servers and Storage from Dell and Netapp. The work of a Cloud Engineer vary and the will of learning and taking on new challenges are expected in the team.

About you:

Yes, it is okay if you have small feet and doesn’t like tractors, but in order to be able to join our team we need to have standards. So, we want you to be fully proficient in the world of operations and be very familiar with SaaS, as well as confident in your skills within the work explained above. Experience from compliance and an overall meticulous approach to what you do on a daily basis will also take you a long way.

To be able to blend well into the team and to our company culture we also think that you need to tick at least a few of these boxes.
