Would you like to develop a cloud communication platform with some of the best people in the industry? Do you want to work with a platform that’s already used by 8 out of 10 leading tech giants in the US, with over 40 billion transactions every year? A platform which can reach virtually every mobile phone on the planet in seconds or less?
We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer that will help ensure that our products run effectively so that our clients can receive maximum value from Sinch’s products and services. We are working in a multi-cloud environment based on AWS and Azure.
The essence of the role
Sinch is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen our Public Cloud Infrastructure team within Messaging. Our mission is to develop, automate, maintain and operate our cloud infrastructure. We operate in an environment with ever-changing business requirements. We work together with our development and support teams to ensure a continuous high-quality delivery of our services.
Our mission is to maintain and meet the infrastructure requirements within the Enterprise and Messaging division. As a member of the team, you will maintain and develop our cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure. It is the team’s responsibility to make sure that we have an updated, secure, cost effective and reliable infrastructure.
At the core, you will be working hands-on with AWS and Azure operations and align with other stakeholders within and outside the team. You will be involved in and drive improvements in our multi-cloud environment. You will be an important part of a team responsible for making sure that we design environments that align with best practices, business requirements, high availability, security and customer interest. You will be a key player in delivering world-class services to our customers.
During an ordinary work week, you will work with Kubernetes clusters and deployments, Linux based virtual servers, database clusters, infrastructure as code and tools for automation.
As our new Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Troubleshooting
Monitor performance and scaling
Automation and scripting
24/7 on call (on a rotating schedule), being responsible for acting on and coordinating incidents
Handling the Messaging platform from an infrastructure and operational perspective
Setting up infrastructure as code together with the engineering teams
Driving and contributing to architectural discussions and decisions
Configuration and deployment
Who are you?
As our new Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be working in a highly collaborative environment. Information is freely shared between members, and you are as eager to learn as you are to teach. This means that you enjoy working in a cooperative and cross-functional environment, and that you are generous in providing support and sharing knowledge with your colleagues.
You have a general understanding of infrastructure and especially AWS and Azure. You understand and can talk to engineers and developers. Your responsibilities and the complexity of assignments will depend on your experience and future ambitions.
You need to enjoy working with operations and making sure everything is running as it is supposed to. We do not expect you to work with full-scale coding, however, you find it exciting to automate in order to be proactive. As you probably already know, stability and accessibility have never been more important.
In order to contribute to this role, we believe you:
Have experience with AWS and/or Azure
Have experience with Linux Administration
