Arbetsbeskrivning
If you are reading this, you probably already know that Polestar is an electric performance car brand. We work hard to create a unique experience for the customer, owner, and driver. The thrill of driving the car, the digital experience of buying, owning, and controlling a Polestar require us to push the limits of technology and software development. Sustainability has been there from the beginning and we have set a moonshot goal for climate-neutral cars in 2030. There is an ocean of opportunities in this for talented IT professionals who want to dive in and make a difference.
The Role
A Cloud Software Architect at Polestar helps the long-term vision of cloud and software architecture and acts as a decision-maker in high-level design choices and technical standards, such as platforms and coding standards. This role will be part of the Technical Standards team. Working in that group means, among other tasks, setting the guardrails for software development and architecture in the product teams, as well as helping domain- and solution architects to build the best possible software solutions. The Cloud Architect is both a visionary and hands-on practitioner in regard to cloud technology and its usage at Polestar. In short, you will:
- Set the standards for software development and ensure that the guardrails are followed by close interactions with the different development teams.
- Ensure guardrails include quality, security and privacy aspects in collaboration with the Information Security team.
- Maintain close relationships with key cloud partners (including AWS, Microsoft, Google and Cloudflare) together with the technical lead of the cloud platform, to maximize the value of the cloud platforms over time.
- Coach and help the development teams and other areas of the business to deliver the best possible software.
Who you are
In order to thrive as our new Cloud Software Architect, we believe that you are comfortable with full-stack development and modern programming principles, perhaps even in product-led digital organizations. You probably have great knowledge of software architecture frameworks and design patterns needed for developing effective code, as well as experience in microservices such as AWS stack and tooling. Knowledge in Software Lifecycle Management and QA practices is considered a great plus as well. Specifically, we believe your experience includes the following:
- Hands-on cloud architecture experience, ideally with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK or similar. We use AWS most extensively, but also run workloads in Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, including thorough understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of such approaches.
- Hands-on development experience with either native or web-to-native tooling and frameworks.
- Experience with reactive JavaScript frameworks and libraries, such as React, Angular, etc.
- Using a variety of API styles and messaging patterns in distributed systems, e.g., REST, gRPC, GraphQL, pub/sub, request/reply.
- Diverse experience in relational and NoSQL database technologies, e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
- Application monitoring and observability.
- Test-driven development and domain-driven design.
- Development in cross-functional agile teams, and ideally practical experience of team leadership.
Personal Qualities
Specific experience is all good and well, but it’s important to state that we’re looking for a colleague who can grow with the company, drive us forward and ultimately enjoy working together with our amazing team. Polestar is a fast-growing company, taking on the world with innovative ideas and new ways of thinking. To thrive, you shouldn’t be afraid to take space, work creatively and engage your colleagues by initiating new processes and practices. In short, you probably:
- Possess strong communication skills with the ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
- Enjoy acting as a coach and mentor with the goal to grow and maximize your team’s potential
- Are excited about trying new solutions outside standard approved practices
- Embrace a culture of trust and complete transparency
- Promote free thought and feel energized by ideas from others
- Are brave and rebellious, willing to challenge the status quo
- Are a learner and teacher, not stopping at what you know today and what you can teach others right now
