Software engineering is an increasingly important area in the automotive industry. Volvo Cars is bringing more of the software development in-house to better handle continuous integration and the complex interactions between different functions. Connectivity is an enabler for most vehicle functions but also introduces privacy and cybersecurity risks that needs to be managed through innovative and robust designs.

The unit Connected Experience within Volvo Cars R&D is responsible for providing the best and most secure connected experience in the automotive industry. We have been connecting our cars for more than two decades, and by now connectivity is one of the most important enablers for doing business in the automotive industry.​

Cloud technologies is therefore of paramount importance. We are responsible for developing and maintaining a car cloud platform as well as car-related functions running on the platform. We have architects and teams specializing in different technology areas in the end-2-end connectivity chain, and we are now looking for a Solution Architect Cloud with the capability of having a holistic view and continuously drive an architectural evolution.

What you’ll do
You will be a part of a network of architects across Volvo Cars. Your main responsibilities will be to:

* Experience in modelling System architecture and design.
* Experience in the development and implementation of cloud-based services. (Preferably worked as full stack developer earlier)
* Experience in any one of the public cloud infrastructures (preferably AWS or Azure/Google Cloud/Aliyun)
* Knowledge of modern development practices such as Containers, Container orchestration, Everything as Code, GitOps, etc.
* Working experience with Agile teams (preferably in SAFe methodology)
* Knowledge of architectural frameworks, design tools, collaboration tools, and product management tools.
* Knowledge of Public-key Infrastructure
* Knowledge of CI/CD tools, Observability tools
* Knowledge of handling non-functional requirements such as performance, scaling, securing the solution.
* Knowledge and understanding of transport protocols such as HTTP, MQTT, AMQP, JMS.
* Knowledge of car connectivity solutions such as Digital Keys, Smart Charging, Plug & Charge, etc..


Do you fit the profile?
For you to fully enjoy this opportunity, we believe that you have a background in software or information technology with at least a Master’s Degree or equivalent.

You have a long professional experience in cloud technologies and excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in software development and software architecture. You have a proven ability to analyze and make recommendations for technical design, collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders and drive continuous improvements.
