The IKEA Museum in Älmhult is looking for a Collection Registrar for Archive & Collection.

Job Description

You will have a fantastic opportunity to work in a role with a broad scope and personal responsibility. Together with the team at Archive & Collection, you will develop routines and working methods for the collection and be involved in the loan process from start to finish. You will spend varied days coordinating and documenting the movement of artefacts from our Collection, prioritizing their care.

To succeed in this role, you are motivated by the IKEA vision and passionate about preserving the IKEA history as well as having significant experience of registrar work with museum collection, including working according to national/international museum standards for transportation, packing, handling and environmental requirements. You have good knowledge of commercial insurance. You will also need to display project management, organization and planning skills.

As a Collection Registrar at IKEA Museum, you are both engaged and driven to develop, to persevere and keep your motivation even if facing challenges. You have the ability to work in a structured way and can effectively achieve results within set time plans. Being independent and eager to take responsibility are also important qualities.

Furthermore, your responsibilities will include:

* Handle communication and paperwork for new acquisitions
* Organize, catalogue, house and track the movement of all artefacts in the collection.
* Correspond with A&C management and Collection Curator for risk management.
* Handle loan arrangements in communication with internal and external stakeholders.
* Research and verify accuracy of artefacts.
* Ensure the safety and security of the collection.

As English is our common company language, we see that you are fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish language will surely be an added advantage.

This position is a permanent, on-site assignment, located in Älmhult, Sweden and you will report to the Archive & Collection Manager at IKEA Museum.



Qualifications

* University Degree in art, art history, museum studies or comparable experience.
* At least three years related work experience.
* Working experience in a museum database.
* Attention to detail and organization.
* Able to problem solve and comfortable working both independently and as a team member.
