Powertrain Engineering is looking for a Combustion System Data Scientist

Tasks
The main tasks in our teams are to meet our customer’s expectation on quality, fuel consumption and to comply with emission legislation. This is done by selecting Engine HW-components, calibrate engine related functions. Coming emission legislation requires development of advanced control strategies together with an optimized hardware. You will be an important contributor in this development. We work in agile teams with good collaboration with our colleagues in software development and design teams. Our daily work is an exciting mix of time spent in engine laboratory, virtual testing, simulation, data analysis, creative meetings and vehicle testing. You get the opportunity to follow your models from script to test cell to verification in a truck.
We have an agile way of working, where each team plan their activities in sprints and deliver solutions together as a team. We strive to have an open and honest environment within the teams, where it is easy to ask each other for support when needed. The tasks can be either part of a larger project or short tasks to improve products currently in production.
Engine Calibration is a data-intensive task and new scripts and methods are needed to deal with more complex engines. Work will be both utilizing existing tools for modeling and simulations as well as to improve our methods and tools. Help us develop our own in-house machine learning tool for engine modeling and optimization as well as our tool for automated data collection in our engines test cells.
Qualifications
Interest and relevant education in mathematical algorithms is important.
Programming skills in Matlab and/or Python are needed, C# is meritorious.
Suitable Education could be Master Degree in the area of Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics, Automation and Mechatronics, Data Science or similar.
Good analytical skills. Experience in working with engines is meritorious but not a requirement for this position.
