What you will do
We are now looking for a passionate online performance engineer with a strong skillset within performance and scalability enhancements of frontend and/or backend. You will join a very experienced team that is one of our core teams supporting our online platform globally and cross H&M group brands with over 50 online markets.
As performance engineer at H&M Business Tech, you will work in an agile context and take responsibility for performance and scalability, production performance analytics, performance testing, production performance audits, volume projections and soft- and hardware sizing.
Our solutions are cloud based and as the e-Commerce journey continues, we are now moving into a microservice architecture for the future online platform, but at the same time working with improving the current solutions.
Responsibilities
In co-operation with other team members:
Set up and prepare performance/load/stress test environments with Jmeter scenarios
Run performance/load/stress tests
Support functional teams with performance test automation
Set up and use SPLUNK, Dynatrace dashboards for performance and scalability measurements
Set up and perform performance audits in live production environments
Analyze the performance tests and audit data for functional and technical scalability and performance bottlenecks, calculate needed HW/SW capacity for the different components of the online platform.
Create performance and audit report and present result for various stakeholders.
Advise functional teams in performance optimizations for front-end or backend
Your mindset & skills
As a Technical Engineer at H&M Business you will contribute to something new and exciting, as we are establishing a new micro service architecture - we will test, fail and learn. You are an important player in this transformation, and so we believe you are communicative, have a “You build it you run it” mindset and able to work in an environment that is not yet formalized.
For us it is important that you have:
Previous experience with Performance Engineering and performance testing tools
An understanding of the performance and scalability challenges in the different e-com solution layers from front-end and mobile app’s to cloud hardware setup front end and/or backend
Good communication skills as you will collaborate with many product teams supporting them with performance testing and monitoring needs
It would be fantastic if you also have (but not a must):
A good understanding of marketing, retail, e-commerce or large international organizations
Very good understanding of the effects a microservice/API architecture can have on performance and scalability
Hands-on experience of Azure Devops and test automation
Good knowledge of Splunk, Dynatrace, Jmeter or mPulse or similar tools
Experience of working closely with functional developers and technical teams to understand their needs and convert into performance test requirements
Experience of working in agile development organizations
Experience of frontend development is a merit but not mandatory
