The Off-Road Solutions team at Volvo Autonomous Solutions is responsible for sales, implementations, and operations of autonomous and electric transport solutions in the construction industry. We are a small, passionate and effective team that is stronger than the sum of its parts and we are take on challenges in a cross-functional and collaborative approach to achieve customer success. The role - What opportunities do we offer?
We are now looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join our team. Commissioning Engineers work primarily at a customer’s site, responsible for commissioning and overseeing the installation of our transport solutions and make them ready for the start of operations.
Together with your colleagues in the Implementation team you will be responsible for installing, starting up the transport system as well as securing agreed system performance. This includes working with autonomous machines, charging-, automation-, communication-, site management- and other supporting systems. Therefore, it would be good if you have previous experience from machinery and/or the construction industry, including electric machines. We also expect you to contribute to development- and operations activities.
You will be a member of the Off- Road Solutions team reporting to Head of Off-Road Solutions with dotted line to Head of Implementations.

We are looking for you who are genuinely interested and committed to bringing new technologies together and make them perform as a complete functional system. This role will require deep technical interest and understanding and the ability to deploy theoretical knowledge in practice. Hands-on experience with electromobility, automation and construction machines and their applications are good, however we believe that experience gaps can be compensated by an open mindset and willingness to quickly learn from others.
Collaboration is part of our DNA, so being a true team player and contributing with good team spirit is essential. Attention to details is valuable but being able to step out of the box and see the overall picture is even more important. As you will work closely with the customer it’s important that you are able to quickly build good business relations. You need to have full working proficiency in English and skills in French (extra valued) and/or German are highly beneficial.
The role will require ability and willingness to travel extensively, about 100+ days per year.
Other possible qualifiers for the job are:
A relevant degree in engineering
Experience from customer or end user applications, such as quarries, mines and the processes thereof
Experience from process industry and infrastructure projects
Programming skills and knowledge of systems engineering
Knowledge of CAN communication, M2M and M2X communication methods (Wi-Fi, Radio, 3G/4G/5G, etc.)
And lastly, a basic commercial understanding
