The commodity buyer for Industrial Supplies handles everything useful for the production sites : it goes from furniture and power tools to support products such as hand tools, cleaning products and even bicycles!
The scope of supplies is very diversified with major challenges in optimizing the supplier base & product range rationalization
He/she is in the driving seat to capture innovations from the suppliers in the Industrial Supplies commodities.
He/she is also an agent in our purchasing transformation journey.
Who are we?
Our team is part of Volvo Group Purchasing, Indirect Products & Services, and within the group of Products & Operational Services. We specialize in Industrial Services & Consumables and we are 10 people in the team located in Sweden, France and Russia. You will be based in Gothenburg (Arendal area) and you will work with our plants in: Köping, Skövde, Tuve, Umea, Boras, Arvika, Hallsberg etc… Therefore, this role requires some occasional travels to mentioned locations and to some of our suppliers.
What will you be doing?
As our Commodity Buyer Industrial Supplies you will collaborate with local, regional and global counterparts and internal stakeholders in order to get the best possible results for Volvo in terms of Cost, Quality, Delivery, Features, Technology while ensuring Volvo’s long-term multifaceted Sustainability and managing Risks (QDCFTSR). You will also strengthen our competitive advantage by understanding the business needs and the supplier market.
You will also support the transformation journey of our purchasing team, mainly in the digitalization and sustainability areas.
Regarding our suppliers, you will manage and develop our supplier base using categorization, segmentation, continuous performance evaluation. You will also map and identify new suppliers in order to establish and maintain the appropriate levels of relationship with key suppliers.
You will also:
Execute all sourcing activities
Issue RFQ’s, negotiate an optimal cost level for your areas of responsibility and carry out contract negotiations and management
Contribute to regional KPI target fulfillment
Interact as key contact with the stakeholders
Identify and drive synergies and share best practices within the Volvo Group including but not limited to participation in internal network meetings and external benchmarking
Contribute to the development of the segment strategy and purchasing process to support Volvo’s strategic objectives
Bring together innovations on his/her segments

Who are we looking for?
To become our next Commodity Buyer, we believe you have these qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or Business Administration
Fluent in English and Swedish (in speech and writing)
Strong Negotiation skills
Experience of working with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), driving cost improvement opportunities
Project management knowledge
Motivated by change management and ability to drive change
Agile & flexible
Communication skills and strong interest to develop good relationships with stakeholders and team
