Manufacturing Engineering

Commodity Manufacturing Engineering is one of the departments within Volvo Cars Manufacturing Engineering VCME. We develop and implement quality assured, flexible and effective production systems in the Final Assembly plants. Our task is to ensure a process-driven product development by driving forward and coordinating Manufacturing Engineering activities in design and product development, with focus on production-effective product solutions.
Within Commodity Manufacturing Engineering, we are now looking for a Manufacturing Engineer, situated in Sweden, Torslanda.´
The overall purpose of the role is to:
. Assure flawless introduction of car programs into our plants
. Upon request, support other manufacturing areas
. Continuously strive for commonality within VCC plants in Europe and China
Main responsibilities
Lead the cross technical product and production manufacturing work as well as represent Manufacturing during prepare and implement phase within their own commodity area within VCC, which means:
Ensures product and process feedback to R&D in order to fulfil the manufacturing attributes (quality, man hours, cost efficiency, environment, flexibility, and change over):
. Leads and coordinates manufacturing process activities within R&D design responsibility area
. Develops efficient (man hour & layout) and ergonomic assembly methods
. Describes and visualizes assembly and control methods in building instructions for all plants (Process and Inspection Instruction)
. Performs virtual verification (Digital Pre Assembly) within the area
. Update and give input to steering system for production control
. Secure development and timing of needed assembly equipment
. Analyses and verifies the manufacturing requirements virtually and physically
. Introduce changes and update Process and Inspection Instruction for running production
. Identifies needs of new error proofing and quality assurance 'systems' or update existing
. Deliver Manufacturing Approval and consequence judgements on changes for each delivery unit
. Initiate and perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
. Give input on status and deviations in decided system/tools for sum up of gateways and milestones
Required qualifications
. Senior high school
. Fluent in Swedish and English, spoken and written
Meritorious
. Technical competence at senior high school or university level is desirable
. Practical experience of production processes
. FMEA & DFA knowledge are desirable
. Knowledge about the processes, methods, and tools at Manufacturing and R&D
. Knowledge in Team Center
