Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.

In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

What’s in it for you?
People who make a difference are the driving force that has built one of the most recognisable brands in the world. We are now looking for change makers who think about communication opportunities in exciting and different ways – creative and critical thinkers who want to change the world with us at Volvo Cars. You will help shape the news and information flow within Volvo Cars and to consumers and external stakeholders driving strategic alignment internally, brand awareness and engagement and ultimately supporting the growth of the business.

What you will do
Our communication strategists are responsible for taking news-based stories and creating multi-channel strategies to see them through to execution. They develop thought-leadership positions to strengthen employee engagement and build the Volvo Car brand to external audiences through media, influencers and other third parties. With a high degree of collaboration, they drive the development and consistent implementation of stories and messages supporting our corporate strategy and core values, across all channels, globally.

You will work within our business area communication teams who are responsible for identifying and developing news-based stories from around the company and to co-create an editorial calendar that is implemented across all communication channels. You will also build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and support them with high level communication guidance.

Moreover, you will play an important role in driving media coverage, working alongside the PR team to promote the Volvo Cars brand and corporate reputation. You will be ahead of the trends in communication, automotive and tech in order to create and deliver disruptive communication strategies that truly set Volvo Cars apart from the competition.

•    Identify newsworthy communication opportunities, develop engaging and creative communication strategies and support the proactive delivery.
•    Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, the wider Communications team and Marketing and Brand to maximise the impact of all communications.
•    Develop Volvo Cars’ thought-leadership position on focus areas, identifying and supporting the delivery of key opportunities to build the brand reputation.
•    Manage relationships with external partners and internal editorial leads to brief and manage original content for distribution.

Who you are
We are looking for a social, passionate and creative communications professional with a proven track record in developing and delivering engaging and motivating communication strategies. You will have extensive experience in PR or journalism and a demonstratable ability to utilise different channels to deliver the desired business outcome. You thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment and are at ease adapting to change. You combine your natural interest in creating innovative communication strategies with an ability to always find the right channel for every story.

•    BA / BSc in communication, journalism or equivalent experience
•    A strategic, analytical and creative approach to communication planning, with an ability to manage a range of projects, balancing quality and speed
•    Exceptional communication skills and fluent English: verbal, written, interpersonal and inter-departmental
•    A natural collaborator with a strong ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders and internal colleagues.
•    A self-starter who is able to work independently and drive results.
•    The ability to bring clarity to complex situations and interpret in-depth business and technology messaging in a consumer-friendly way.
•    A natural passion for news and communication.
