What you’ll do
We are looking for a Corporate Communications Strategist who has an eye for identifying, developing, and communicating impactful business news stories and creating multi-channel strategies to see them through to execution.
For us, a Corporate Communications Strategist is someone who proactively stays on top of what is happening in the business to be able to react quickly to potential risks and find stories that protect and enhance the corporate reputation. In order to achieve this, you will need to work closely with different business functions across the company, including teams from Investor Relations and Public Affairs. Apart from that, being able to draft corporate communication strategies and messages is a must. 
Specifically for this role, you will help develop 360-degree communications plans for all stakeholders – internal and external – to ensure Volvo Cars’ corporate and business messages get embedded. As the Corporate Communications Strategist for Volvo Cars, you will be deeply involved in the end-to-end running of several high-profile and strategically key communications activities for the company, including the quarterly financial results, Annual General Meeting with shareholders, and other confidential corporate communication announcements from the company. You will be expected to draft communication strategies and business messages, develop media Q&As on corporate issues, be a trusted communications adviser to senior leaders of the company as well as assess and support interview requests and speaking opportunities with executives. 
In Volvo Cars’ Central PR and Comms Team, the pace is high and as part of our global communications team, we are in daily contact with media around the world as well as in our markets and regions, senior leaders of the company and other stakeholders. At the same time, we together line out and execute on long-term communication strategies. You will therefore need to both work efficiently and independently, but also as an integrated member of the PR and communications team. This position is based at Volvo Cars’ international HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden and you will report to reports to the Global Head of Corporate Communications & Direct Markets (Sweden & UK). 
What you’ll bring
A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications will be needed in this role and you should have a very good understanding of the complex interplay between business, financial markets, and policy. It is preferable that you have worked with a listed company and understand the unique communications requirements in such a setting. A background in business and financial journalism, though not essential, will be beneficial in this role.
All in all, we are looking for someone who is an observant follower of complex global macroeconomic, socio-political and policy trends, with an ability to connect the dots for the organization through a differentiated communications strategy.
