Volvo Cars - Driving change together
We share a rich and purposeful heritage and even bolder future ambitions to match. Since 1927, we have created world-changing innovations: The modern seatbelt, the side impact protection system, the pedestrian detection system, to name just a few.
Today, Volvo Cars is one of the most well-known and respected premium car brands, preparing for a new future that will be all-electric and connected. Our proud history of innovation is the result of a collaborative, diverse and inclusive Volvo Cars community, grounded in a shared passion for protecting people and our planet.
For the right person, an inspiring, and creative workplace awaits. Did you know that every Volvo Cars employee worldwide has the right to our Family Bond, our all-gender, paid parental leave policy? You’ll also enjoy a culture and benefits package that’s made us one of the world’s most awarded and progressive employers.
Join us on the journey of a lifetime as we create the driving and electrification technologies of tomorrow.
Let’s introduce ourselves
Volvo Cars is a pioneer in safe, sustainable, and intelligent mobility. Having already reinvented itself as a true premium player over the past decade, it is now spearheading an industry transformation into full electrification, while at the same time overhauling its tech offering with core computing and contextual user experience at the center.
Our existing product line-up is responsible for generating the company’s revenue and is a more compelling part of the product and technology narrative than ever before with constant improvements throughout a car’s lifecycle now possible via over-the-air software updates. Maximising positive exposure of these existing products is therefore one of the most important jobs we have as a global communications team.
The most exciting transformation in the industry and the history of our company is happening now. And you have an opportunity to be part of it and share the story with the world.
What you’ll do
You will be part of a team that develops, and implements communication strategies for areas including but not limited to product, sustainability, tech, software development, consumer offers and design/UX. You will implement strategies focused primarily on generating awareness of and driving sales of our existing product lineup, into communications to audiences ranging from media, customers, investors, analysts, potential future hires, employees, and Volvo fans to drive brand reputation and business growth.
You will work closely with the senior communications strategist responsible for existing products within the product and technology communications team, as well as the communications representatives in our global markets, to maximise positive exposure of our existing products and deliver a consistent global narrative. You will also deputise for the senior communications strategist within the Critical Concerns Management Team, whose role is to identify and execute global communication needs relating to any potentially high-profile quality issues that may arise within our existing product line-up.
Furthermore, you will lead project-based teams from start to finish, collaborating with the wider communication team and with people from across the business.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for a progressive communicator who can see beyond the obvious delivery and takes an innovative approach to communication. You are a strong strategic thinker and problem-solver. You can see stories where others cannot. You are driven and inherently curious about what’s happening in the world, so you place your efforts into a wider context. You have strong collaboration and leadership skills, are always eager to improve and take a creative approach to building the Volvo Cars brand outside the traditional automotive space. Your strong personal interest in and knowledge of automotive products will prove very valuable skills.
Preferred skills
-Experience from PR/communications at a global level
- Excellent English writing skills
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, Marketing or Journalism or equivalent experience
This position is primarily based at Volvo Cars’ international HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden but other location such as London or Stockholm can be discussed for the right applicant. You will report to the Head of product and technology communications.
