Volvo Cars - Driving change together
We share a rich and purposeful heritage and even bolder future ambitions to match. Since 1927, we have created world-changing innovations: The modern seatbelt, the side impact protection system, the pedestrian detection system, to name just a few.
Today, Volvo Cars is one of the most well-known and respected premium car brands, preparing for a new future that will be all-electric and connected. Our proud history of innovation is the result of a collaborative, diverse and inclusive Volvo Cars community, grounded in a shared passion for protecting people and our planet.
For the right person, an inspiring, and creative workplace awaits. Did you know that every Volvo Cars employee worldwide has the right to our Family Bond, our all-gender, paid parental leave policy? You’ll also enjoy a culture and benefits package that’s made us one of the world’s most awarded and progressive employers.
Join us on the journey of a lifetime as we create the driving and electrification technologies of tomorrow.

Let’s introduce ourselves
With computing centralised, our next generation cars are designed to become better every day to suit consumers’ constantly changing needs. Cars will carry the latest sensors, be powered by batteries, and increasingly defined by its software. It’s a new age for the automotive industry, and a new era for communications – with new possibilities opened up by electrification, deeply integrated technology and new ways to interact, always with people at the center of everything we do.
Volvo Cars is on a transformation journey towards full electrification by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2040 – the most exciting transformation in the industry and the history of our company is happening now. And you have an opportunity to be part of it and share the stories with the world.
What you’ll do
You will join a team of highly competent communication professionals from diverse backgrounds who look after global communications for Volvo Cars in areas including but not limited to product, tech, software development, consumer offers and design/UX.
In this role you will lead project-based teams from start to finish, collaborating with the wider communication, marketing, and brand community and with colleagues from across the business and markets around the globe. You will develop and implement communication strategies to audiences ranging from media, influencers, consumers, investors, analysts, potential future hires, employees, and Volvo fans to drive brand reputation and business growth.
You will also work closely with experts in different areas and key partners of the company and be part of creating the narrative for new products or technologies from an early phase, helping ensure the narrative stays true. Furthermore, you will take ownership in finding stories and building a compelling editorial calendar that helps differentiate the Volvo Cars brand and products in a highly competitive marketplace.
What you’ll bring
As a person you are a progressive communicator who can see beyond the obvious delivery and takes an innovative approach to communications. You have a nose for news and can craft it into compelling stories attractive for the target audiences. You are a strategic thinker and a problem solver with a positive mindset, willing to navigate complexity in a fast-paced environment.
You are a natural team player and have strong collaboration and project management skills. You are also self-motivated and inherently curious about what’s happening in the world, so you place your efforts into a wider context. At last, you have a passion for the Volvo Cars brand and are eager to improve and take a creative approach to building the brand outside the traditional automotive space.

Preferred skills:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in PR/communications at a global level
- Excellent English writing skills
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, Marketing or Journalism or equivalent work experience
- Strong personal interest and/or background in tech will prove very valuable skills.
This position is primarily based at Volvo Cars’ international HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden but other location such as London or Stockholm can be discussed for the right applicant. You will report to the Head of product and technology communications.
