Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S.) is a new entity within the Volvo Group with the mission to offer transport and material handling solutions never seen before. This is how you can make an impact
As Communications Manager you are responsible to drive and support the business of V.A.S. through innovative and efficient external and internal communication. You will be instrumental in positioning V.A.S. and by that also Volvo Group, as an innovative, technology driven and customer solution orientated enterprise. Through close cooperation with our technology and commercial functions, you will participate in the design and promotion of our solutions portfolio offer and support the portfolio through an integrated end to end communication process. We are on a mission to change an industry – that also requires a disruptive approach in terms of how we communicate.


Examples of your responsibilities and tasks:
Being a new and growing business, employee communication plays a vital role for V.A.S. Establishing clarity for all colleagues on priorities, objectives and the way of working needs to be in focus for you in this role. Connecting colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experience, operating from different locations, is vital. At V.A.S we aim for a close and high performing team, with a clear drive to accomplish and to deliver on our ambition. We need you to help us reach our aim.
Shaping messages to support the President and other key stakeholders when representing V.A.S externally as well as develop and execute internal communication. This to build awareness and engagement of V.A.S plans and activities amongst employees, customers, potential partners, stakeholders, external talents and other Volvo Group colleagues.
As V.A.S is a new venture, we are entering new territory for the Volvo Group. The combination of strong tech expertise and customer solution focus will create new business models, e.g. transport as a service. This in consequence requires a new and innovative approach for the communications function at V.A.S. Good business acumen and openness towards disruptive technologies are key elements for the position.

In this you own and drive the V.A.S. communications: planning, executing and follow-up. Your KPI´s are a clear awareness of V.A.S. in our industry space, and that internal communication results in increased engagement from our people.


In this position you directly report to a member of Volvo Autonomous Solutions Executive Management team.

You are comfortable working with people at all levels and have a sound understanding of the business - always assuring that you understand the need, preferences and environment of the people your collaborative with. We believe it is important that you are persistent with a structured approach to secure implementation and long-term results whilst being curious and courageous to think outside the box and encourage new ways of working and improvements.


As the V.A.S business model is built on collaborations and partnerships, it is important to manage the communication aspects of our partnership model. And, as we are a start-up, it is important for all of us to take on different responsibilities and to help each other out; it´s something completely new and a high performing team we are building. We therefore believe it is of high importance that you share our collaborative way of working and enjoy working on both strategic and operational level in your work.

Most important of all is that you embrace this opportunity wholeheartedly. V.A.S. is a start-up within the Volvo Group, so we rely on you, our accountable colleague, who dare to challenge and inspire us and the external world with innovative and insightful communication.
Experience in the communications space and bring recognized industry expertise from the automotive and / or new technologies sector. Relevant knowledge about industrial verticals such as mining, construction, transportation, and logistics is a plus.
It is important to have worked on strategic and operational level and to bring the appetite to do both in this role.
Proven experience in relationship management and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
University degree with commercial or technical background.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate in a clear and inspiring way.
