Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
What’s in it for you?
People who make a difference are the driving force that has built one of the most recognizable brands in the world. We are now looking for a change maker who thinks about communication opportunities in exciting and different ways – creative and critical thinkers who want to change the world with us at Volvo Cars.
The Communications Team works across the full breadth of the company, within each business area and globally in the markets and regions. It aims to bring the Volvo Cars story to life through engaging and inspiring story-telling that helps the company meet its business ambitions. Making sure relevant messages reach the right audience, quickly and accurately is no small feat.
We are looking for a Communications Operations Manager who will ensure that the team runs as a well-oiled machine, or a fully charged electric car, and who will bring people, teams and projects together as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
What you will do
We are looking for someone who will oversee the efficient and effective implementation of the ways of working and processes within the Communications team, including alignment with Marketing & Brand. You will make sure that all projects follow the correct process from strategy through to implementation, including de-briefing, reviewing results and sharing lessons learned with the broader team. You will facilitate key operational and decision forums within the Communications team, including setting agendas, ensuring actions are completed and decisions communicated (eg The Week Ahead, Strategy Meeting, Operations Meeting, Regional Alignment Meeting).
Further, you will make sure that information is shared openly and transparently (where confidentiality allows!) with the Communications team, among other key departments such as Marketing & Brand, Public Affairs, IR etc and with the Regions. In this role it is important to maintain a structured overview of regional activity and to bring together a global communication activity plan across all communication channels including PR, employee comms, retailer comms etc.
You will act as the ‘go to’ point for regions and internal departments, directing enquiries to the right comms team member for quick and efficient response and action. Moreover, you will produce regular reports and presentations to be shared within communication forums and update the wider business (eg, weekly comms update to business areas, monthly activity and results reports for EMT and MCPB etc).
Who you are
We are looking for someone who has the ability to see the big picture, look for and identify overlaps and commonality, and bring people together to deliver on mutual objectives. You have the ability to network, negotiate and influence others without the need for reporting lines or hierarchy. You are confident, with the ability to get people on board to new ways of working.
In this role it is important to be extremely structured and organised and to excel in managing multiple projects at any one time, always delivering to deadline. You have the ability to work independently and take leadership where needed and you strive for excellence in all deliveries.
