Compliance Counsel Export Control and Sanctions

As Compliance Counsel Export Control & Sanctions, you will report to the Head of Export Control & Sanctions Compliance and work in a small team of export control and sanctions professionals in the Group Compliance Function.


The role of the Compliance Counsel Export Control and Sanctions includes:
Support the development and implementation of the Volvo Group’s export control and sanctions compliance program.
Provide guidance and expert support to Volvo Group entities in a variety of export control and sanctions related matters including legal questions around export control licenses.
Be involved in training and communication activities to relevant business stakeholders.
Oversee and monitor legislative developments.
Be involved in investigations and reporting related to potential violations and work with appropriate authorities as necessary.
Help to establish and maintain effective reporting procedures



All of the above tasks will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams in the Volvo Group’s Truck Divisions, Business Areas and Group Functions. In your role, you will work closely with the Head of Export Control and Sanctions Compliance and other members of the Group Compliance team.


Group Compliance is a head-office function responsible for managing the Group Anti-Corruption, Competition Law, Export Control & Sanctions and Data Protection Compliance Programs, including the management of the Volvo Group’s Whistleblowing Channels. We are working in close cooperation with the legal functions and other stakeholders of the Volvo Group and all Divisions and Business Areas.


Qualifications and skills:
A legal degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in the area of Export Control and sanctions or alternatively extensive experience from an in-house compliance role related to export control and sanctions compliance.
Strong interest in and knowledge of export control laws and sanctions regulations.
Process mindset with an affinity for tools, systems and IT-solutions.
Good communication skills with multiple stakeholders.
Team-player with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
