Join us as a Component Engineer and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Stockholm, Sweden within our Rail Control Solutions Division.
Purpose of the role
In this role, you will be part of a hardware development team working with the latest technology, developing and maintaining industrial real-time embedded products for our Rail Control Solutions. Our products have the highest fail-safe requirements, reliability and work under the harshest operational environments.
As a Component Engineer you will require detailed knowledge and expertise within the hardware design world (electronics, electromechanics and mechanics) and commercial experience. The Component Engineer is the key technical interface between design, maintenance, production and procurement to ensure high quality products, flawless production and long-term availability.
The role interfaces with our Engineering and Product Development teams, from different international sites, Operations Department, Suppliers and manufacturing sites.
Your responsibilities:
• Define Long Term Component Strategy, Monitor Market Situation.
• Negotiation with Component Suppliers.
• Act as a Component Engineer within Design, Procurement and Manufacturing to provide feedback on component choices and alternatives based on the market situation.
• Manage and maintain the component database for our Embedded Systems.
• Handle Obsolescence’s with Engineering, Suppliers, Procurement and Manufacturing via Last Time Buy, Sport Market and finding alternative components.
• Monitor Component Status during the product lifecycle.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Electronics or any other relevant field.
• Previous experience as a Component Engineer or Field Application Engineer (FAE) or HW Designer.
• Broad knowledge of the Supplier portfolio for electronic components.
• Broad knowledge and understanding on components use and their parameters.
• Previous experience with PDM systems.
• English at a fluent level is mandatory for this role, Swedish will be considered a plus.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
Experience with one or several of the below is preferred:
• Good network and contact within electronic component manufacturers and suppliers.
• Good knowledge in “Design for Reliability” concepts for high reliability products.
• Good knowledge of production processes.
• Good knowledge in both electrical and mechanical components.
• Relevant experience in railway products (or similar).
