If your answer is YES to the above questions, you have found an interesting opportunity! We are looking for a Component owner, working within the area of thermal management to our Battery electric-, Fuel cell- and Internal combustion machines.
We, at EATS and auxiliaries, are a group of fantastic and dedicated engineers working within several areas, one being Thermal Management Systems towards tomorrow’s zero emission propulsion systems for Volvo Construction Equipment. This is an area we see will have enormous impact on our machines´ ability to meet and exceed customers’ expectations on drivability, machine power and range. We need to grow our competence and capacity in the area, and we want you to help us!
EATS and auxiliaries are a part of Sustainable Power Systems. At EATS and Auxiliaries, we have the responsibility for development of hardware solutions for Thermal Management to all of our construction equipment machines. In EATS and Auxiliaries we have responsibility for hardware components to the Thermal management systems, we work with simulation of the systems, create specifications for components, test plans and testing of components & systems, and we also create software requirements for the components and the systems. We work together with software engineers in an agile team, taking full responsibility for the complete Thermal management system with hardware solutions and software control. The scope is the complete development cycle from design, industrialization and maintenance of released components.
What We Offer?
In the role as Component owner – Thermal management systems, you will be an important person in the development of our thermal management systems. You will work through and with a team of engineers responsible for thermal simulations of the systems, design of components used in the thermal management systems, requirement specifications for SW control of system and also verification requirements of thermal management systems. You will be involved from the very beginning and throughout the entire projects, including the maintenance part when products have been launched. Main activity in this position is to plan work for the team and act as technical project lead for the deliveries of the team. The team´s deliveries are e.g.:
System architecture for thermal management systems to Volvo CE machines using battery, fuel cell or internal combustion engines as power source
Simulations to qualify correct system architecture
Performance and durability requirements for the components.
Legal requirements for the components and systems
Road maps for future alternatives, aligned with commercial requirements.
Verification requirements to ensure customer expectations are met.
Product maintenance of the components and systems
The end application is construction equipment machines such as wheel loaders, excavators, and articulated haulers. The work is done in close cooperation with both your team and colleagues responsible for software development. Since the thermal management system is an integrated system with different stakeholders, you will also be in close contact with departments working with driveline solutions, departments doing complete machine development, and purchasing organizations aligning supplier strategies

Who are you?
A curios and enthusiastic engineer with a passion for applying your knowledge in new technology areas where everything is not always defined. You enjoy working with other engineers and make them perform at their best. At the same time, you also understand your role as a part of the team, supporting with your competence. Your mindset is to strive for finding solutions which can be applied with right quality at right cost and time. As a person, you are true team player. But you can also can work individually within your responsibility area and represent the team. You also understand the need of having an agile way of working, in technology shifts, when expectations on system is explored in parallel with the system development.
The job will require a holistic view with possibility to balance requirements in order to find solutions which can be used at multiple end products. In order to succeed, we believe you have a background as a mechatronic, or mechanical engineer who has gained competence within systems for thermal control. Preferably those thermal systems you have worked with, have been applied in vehicles or machines. You have been working with leading smaller teams before, or have the ambition to learn how to lead a smaller team. You have probably worked within automotive industry, but can also have worked with these areas in other industries. Experience from Scrum methodology is also meritorious. The experiences requested are needed to meet customers and authorities requirements on quality and legal fulfilment for our thermal management systems
You are analytical, have a structured way of working, and you enjoy being on top of things. You also enjoy planning work for other persons. Sharing your knowledge with others and understand that the end solution is the result of many different skills is a guiding star for you.
