You will join the Civil Engineering section (CE), within the Site Asset Management (SAM) Group, responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising the execution of construction works related to buildings and civil engineering infrastructures, required for CERN operation, throughout infrastructure life cycle including construction, maintenance and refurbishment.

Functions
As a Construction Project engineer, you will plan and coordinate maintenance and construction/renovation work associated to surface infrastructure (more than 600 buildings totalling a surface area of 650,000 m2) and related underground facilities (over 60 km of machine tunnels and service tunnels), as well as contribute to the quality assurance plan of the section.
In particular you will:
- Plan and coordinate the work of the project design consultants including the selection process and the set up and management of consultant contracts.
- Draw up technical specifications and all relevant documents that will be used for quotations by external contractors. Coordinate the call for tender process for the works.
- Plan and manage the execution of works including chairing coordination and site meetings, contract management, quality control, compliance with contractual conditions, check of contractors' measurements and invoices.
- Gather requirements from clients and other stakeholders (safety officers, work package leaders, users, etc.) and manage change requests.
- Ensure that all constructions comply with the contractual drawings and documents.
- Make sure that costs and schedules are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with safety and enviromental rules and regulations, conduct or delegate regular inspections and promote a culture of safety on work sites.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Civil Engineering or Architecture or a related field.
Experience:
The experience required for this post is:
-Proven experience in managing and coordinating building construction or renovation projects.
-Proven experience on both tertiary and industrial buildings.
-Proven experience in coordinating various trades on site (structural work, building's envelope, interior finishings, road and sewage, etc.)
-Proven experience in the organisation of call for tender and selection of firms.
The following will be considered an asset:
-Experience of working in radiation-controlled areas.
-Experience in large sites in the industrial and/or scientific environments.
-Experience in implementing quality management processes.
-Experience in frame contract management.

Employment Conditions
