Job description The Consulting Project Manager defines and manages project schedule including deliverables, dates and timelines.Manages the customer's expectations and project deliverables as set forth in the Statement of Work (SOW) to ensure customer satisfaction with successful delivery of the project.Acts as key customer contact from project launch through completion.Writes status reports, assesses risks and mitigates issues.Manages release schedule and scope; matches project plan and estimates to deliveries and actuals; communicates SOW change consequences and trade-offs. Reviews and approves all project deliverables.Acts as the key resource held accountable for delivery quality and customer satisfaction upon project launches.Significant impact on revenue due to responsibility for management of client projects.Responsible for recommendations that help determine customer-billable time and expenses. Essential job functions . Drives and documents timely completion and management of project deliverables.. Manages expectations and provide scope-of-effort (time, cost, economies of scale) estimates..Leads delivery team to successfully implement Sterling Commerce solutions.. Acts as single point of contact for the project to both the customer and Sterling Commerce personnel..Supervises the work of third party consultants as necessary..Reports own time and expenses accurately and timely..Reports progress toward project goals against schedules and budgets after their launch accurately and timely.Escalates exceptions quickly to the Manager, Consulting Services.. Earns customer trust.Represents Sterling Commerce to customer with professionalism at all times.Communicates and documents appropriate customer expectations.Consistently delivers to exceed those expectations.Averts and resolves customer issues.By these means, creates customer satisfaction..Provides leadership to delivery consultants through knowledge sharing, consulting tool and training material creation and on-site shadowing.Contributes to library of consulting best practices.. Assists sales and pre-sales to win new clients/projects.. Assists legal to contract for commercially low-risk projects.Requested competence Minimum 5 years of project management experience.. Knowledge of data communication, application software and e-business practices.Familiarity with Sterling Commerce solutions strongly desired.. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. . Ability to anticipate and build contingency project plans. .Ability to produce clarity from ambiguity. .Strong negotiation skills required for effective engagement management, in which both the interests of the customer and Sterling Commerce must be accurately represented and win-win resolutions reached..
