Continuous Improvement Master

Are you a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, passionate about continuous improvement and an effective change agent and team leader? Then we have an exciting and challenging job opportunity for you as Continuous Improvement Master at AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry.

As Continuous Improvement Master you will supervise, coach and train teams of regional Continuous Improvement Expert Managers who are leading complex improvement projects with significant impact. You will be a key resource in identifying and defining improvement opportunities and operate across functional lines to drive change, improve efficiency and help building a long term continuous improvement culture based on Lean Six Sigma principles.

You will work in your home region but also assist in driving Lean Six Sigma initiatives on a global basis.


Main responsibilities

- Serves, along with fellow Continuous Improvement Masters, as the technical expert on the use and training of Lean Six Sigma.
- Provides Lean Six Sigma expert content for the development and enhancement of the BU and Company program.
- Acts as the line manager for the Continuous Improvement Experts in the region. Provides on-going management, support and development to Continuous Improvement Expert direct reports.
- Provides on-going coaching and support to the Continuous Improvement Experts in learning and using the Lean Six Sigma methodology in their projects and activities in BU Surface Chemistry.
- Delivers initial training to the Continuous Improvement Experts, Continuous Improvement Practitioners and, as needed, throughout the organization.
- Acts as a coach and on-going teacher to the Continuous Improvement Advanced Practitioners, managers and, as needed, in the organization.
- Develops tools and models that will enable BU SC to learn and continuously improve knowledge, engagement and use of L6S in daily activities.
- Assists in the development and deployment of the Lean Six Sigma program and helps provide visibility of the program across BU SC.
- Responsible for driving for the successful delivery of the benefits and the completion of Continuous Improvement Expert projects.
- Leads complex, high-priority improvement projects, as directed by the Program Director, to provide the right level of leadership on critical projects and initiatives


Job requirements / Candidate profile

- Master?s degree within engineering, technology, business, economics or finance.
- Certified L6S Master Continuous Improvement Expert / L6S Master Black Belt.
- At least 3 years? experience as Master Continuous Improvement Expert + 3 years? experience as Continuous Improvement Expert, preferably within chemical or pharma industries and/or supply chain.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills; able to inspire others to work together and effectively.
- Able to effectively interact with different cultures and all levels in the organization.
- Team management skills and extensive experience in training and coaching.
- Experienced project manager.
- High performance level and ability to multi task in a fast paced environment.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
- Willing to travel internationally and domestically as much as 50%
