Are you a skilled control system engineer with several years’ experience, hungry to develop your career? If so, Grid and Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) unit (former FACTS – Flexible AC Transmission Systems) in Västerås and part of the Hitachi Energy’s business, currently has an opening offering high visibility in a global organization with challenging projects and great opportunities to develop and influence. The position offers extensive opportunities to deepen and broaden your knowledge of the FACTS business, and the chance to grow as a leader.
The FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity within existing power systems. As a result, greater amounts of power reach customers with minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs. The GPQS unit in Västerås pioneered this technology and remains the market leader in developing and marketing this groundbreaking technology to customers worldwide.
Your responsibilities
As Control Lead Engineer, you will lead and inspire a sub-project team of control engineers to deliver high-quality and cost-effective engineering solutions for our customers.
The team works with everything from design and implementation to verification and commissioning of control systems to meet customer requirements in delivering FACTS.
You will take on overall technical responsibility for the team’s scope of work and ability to meet scheduling requirements and agreed budgets.
To achieve this, you will need to have extensive contact with other engineering groups, project managers, local Hitachi Energy offices and customers.

Your background
To succeed in this position, you need to be a confident leader who facilitates teamwork and communicates clearly at all levels.
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with a specialization in electrical systems, automatic control theory, software engineering or equivalent.
Experience from similar technical engineering positions working with deliveries of electrical power plants, converter stations, process control systems, or substation automation.
As a person you are organized, responsive and solution-driven, with a strong focus on delivering results.
An outgoing personality is a must, as this role entails extensive customer contact and close co-operation with colleagues and suppliers.
Proficiency in English is required.
