Control System Integrator, Target

The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Control System Integrator, Target.

Description of directorate/division
ESS is seeking a Control System Integrator in Target Integration Support for its Integrated Control System (ICS) division. The ICS will control the ESS accelerator, target, neutron instruments and conventional facilities. The successful applicant will be partly responsible for developing the target control system in conjunction with Target Division and ICS.

Description of main responsibilities


• Define and manage the interfaces between the control system components and target components
• Involvement in the design of the target component controls
• Responsible for the design, implementation and management of target control system components
• Perform verification of requirements, including analysis, inspection, demonstration and testing
• Perform component validation, including commissioning for operations
• Perform and supervise EPICS integration and PLC development

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Engineering, Physics or equivalent is required
• Experience with target, accelerator or industrial control systems
• Knowledge of EPICS is an advantage
• Experience with industrial automation and process systems is an advantage
• Hands-on experience with control system hardware including PLCs
• Experience with control system architecture and design
• Experience with device integration, support and maintenance
• Experience with technology evaluation
• Experience with requirements solicitation and verification
• Ability to design, debug, and test control system components thoroughly
• Ability to teach, mentor and communicate technical concepts and solutions
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
