Arbetsbeskrivning

Controller Software Developer for Thermal Management

Do you want to develop sustainable transportation, in electromobility and fuel cell technology? Do you enjoy taking on complex technical challenges, and working together with like-minded colleagues to find solutions? If so, apply today.

The position
As a Controller Software Developer, you will help develop the algorithms we use to control thermal management systems, including our new projects into battery electric and fuel cell technology. Your tasks will be varied and will involve understanding highly complex systems and working with our team to find solutions to all our various technical challenges. Your tasks will include software design, documentation, implementation, and testing and verification in both simulated environments and hands-on with real trucks.

Who are we and what do we do
Thermal Management is a department within Volvo Group Trucks Technology, which is responsible for developing optimised cab climate and all vehicle cooling and heating systems.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for people with a degree in Systems, Control and Mechatronics,
Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or similar. You have the ability to make sense of complex problems (and sometimes even contradictory information) to find solutions. You also have good communication skills, a willingness and enthusiasm for taking on new opportunities and challenges and of course you are a team-player.
Ideally you have several years’ experience working with embedded software development in climate or regulator areas. Experience within agile development and the automotive industries are also an advantage. However, as our department continues to grow and we anticipate needing more team members, we are also open to meeting candidates without explicit thermal management experience.

We are looking for applicants with knowledge in at least some of the following areas:
Control theory, modelling engineering
Matlab/Simulink/Targetlink
Object oriented programming
Climate systems and or thermal management systems
Automotive CAN protocol
Fluency in English, both written and spoken

It is also an advantage to have knowledge in these areas:
Configuration Management
Machine Learning

What we can offer
We are offering you the opportunity to work with the latest technologies within electromobility and fuel cell technology and help pioneer new sustainable transport solutions.

We can also offer many opportunities for personal and career development. Our team is rapidly growing and expanding into new technologies such as machine learning and AI. Within Thermal Management, there are many opportunities to grow, such as taking on more responsibilities and leadership roles, as well as developing technical expertise.
