Core Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly Shop

Volvo Cars Manufacturing Engineering (VCME) is a part of Volvo Cars Purchasing & Manufacturing unit (P&M), and driver of the Manufacturing Development Process which is a part of the Product Creation Process.
Core Manufacturing Engineering Assembly shop is one of the departments within VCME, working towards final assembly plants worldwide. We are approximately 25 engineers divided into two groups. Core Manufacturing Engineering is focusing on strategic work and early concept phase in the car programs. We are responsible for process and system solutions overtime.
Within the group Global Strategy and Process Development, we are now looking for Core Manufacturing Engineer, responsible for the area of Decking (car body to chassis joining). The role has a challenging target setting responsibility towards R&D securing production of next generation of drivelines and vehicles in our assembly plants globally. The purpose of the role is also to lead development work and create new processes supporting efficiency optimization. It is important both to drive efficiency work of today, and to understand implications of future global products and processes.
Main responsibilities

* Responsible for technical and production strategic development including manufacturing requirements
* Provide technical specification for lead time demanding equipment
* Plan and lead benchmarking activities
* Establish layouts ensuring the most economic process utilization
* Secure that lessons learned improvements are implemented into new solutions
* Investigate consequences in industrial structure changes, future car programs and platform issues
* Define cost and investment consequences for process and product changes

Required qualifications

* B.Sc. / M.Sc. degree in engineering - Mechanical or Industrial is preferred - or equivalent
* Experience as Manufacturing Engineer and/or Tooling and Equipment Engineer, preferably within the automotive industry
* Experience from semi-automatic or automatic production processes with high tooling and equipment involvement
* Knowledge about processes, methods, and tools used within Manufacturing Engineering and R&D
* Robust Design and Failure Mode Avoidance knowledge, process and product
* Good overall computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* English skills, verbal and written
* Experience from virtual work in 3D tools (e.g. Catia, Teamcenter, ProEngineer, Solid Works), is meritorious
* Experience from process- and/or flow simulation is meritorious
