Corporate Legal Counsel, AB Volvo
We are now looking for a Corporate Legal Counsel to strengthen our legal team within Technology & IT. Your focus areas will include data use and governance, privacy, digital transformation and cybersecurity, but also general transaction and corporate matters that are part of Corporate Legal’s daytoday operations. The Corporate Legal team
Corporate Legal is the legal department of the Volvo Group headquarters. We are a team of 15 legal professionals in Gothenburg that supports the Group General Counsel with management of matters involving significant legal risks for the Group, the coordination of the Group legal function and expert legal advice on a broad range of operational and strategic matters, including Group corporate and governance, M&A and partnerships, treasury & finance, employment, real estate, environmental, technology & IT and sustainability.
Corporate Legal is part of Volvo Group Legal & Compliance, a group function that contributes to the vision of the Volvo Group by coordinating and providing services to the entire Volvo organization within the areas of Legal, Compliance, Governance, Security and Corporate Audit.
Some of the things you will do as Corporate Legal Counsel include:
Support and participate in development of all aspects of the Group’s management of general data (including vehicle data), data privacy and cybersecurity matters
Engage and coordinate highquality external legal counsels, and build and maintain a network and other channels as required to stay on top of developments in the Technology & IT field
Provide high quality legal support in a wide range of business matters, from dayto day corporate matters to complex business transactions in an international environment
Provide guidance and direction with respect to regulatory developments within Technology & IT and other areas; establish resolution strategies and lead, oversee or personally execute on such strategies in cooperation with different stakeholders
Develop and implement Group policies, strategies and procedures, and promote compliance
Contribute to internal knowledge development and sharing within the Group, including running of training programs and development of legal processes, tools and ways of working
Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders across the business, including management teams, Group IT, Security and other legal teams; seek to understand needs, help to inform, advise and promote best practices
Participate in Boards, and internal Councils & Committees as appropriate
You should have:
A university degree in law
7+ years of qualified work experience as a lawyer, from a well renowned law firm and as inhouse counsel, preferably from the automotive, telecom or IT industries
Extensive Technology & IT law work experience
Solid interest in business operations, with an ambition to learn and develop into new areas as the automotive industry transforms
Proven ability to solve problems in an international environment
Excellent communication skills; proficiency in English
You may also have experience from compliance or legal operations, and/or from running an inhouse team or advanced project management.

The position reports to the SVP Head of Corporate Legal. Travel will be required occasionally (in normal circumstances).
