In this role as a Cost Controller, your primary responsibility is to assist and provide guidance to the Project Manager in achieving the financial objectives of the project. This includes staying informed about relevant procedures and tools related to project economics, as well as supporting the Project Manager in monitoring finances and conducting necessary analyses to ensure accurate economic predictions for the project. You will also ensure that time registration, Scope of Work changes, cost control, invoicing, and economic reporting are carried out in compliance with contractual and internal requirements. Additionally, it is important to gather project experience and conduct subsequent analysis for internal discussions and, as stipulated in the contract, with the Client.
Your responsibilities will be the following:
- Enter approved project budget data into project accounting system, including cost breakdown and hours allocation
- Assist Project Manager in preparing Project Management Plan by providing input on project cost control procedures and processes
- Monitor and analyze actual cost and hour consumption compared to budget, reporting any deviations
- Regularly update forecast for "cost-to-complete" and analyze impact on project profitability
- Manage and control project financial engagements and cash flow, including invoicing and payment control
- Support Project Manager in controlling risk provision based on risk assessments
- Ensure necessary bonds and insurances are in place, and prepare and agree on invoices and payment requests in a timely manner
- Communicate project financial status and forecast, including budget deviations, to relevant parties involved in project execution
- Analyze changes in contract scope of work and their impact on project cost budget and profitability
- Negotiate unsettled items in invoices with the Client
- Assist basic project group with quality checks and interdisciplinary control
- Check unsettled items in outgoing invoices
- Initiate changes within own area of responsibility, such as non-conformance reporting
- Report key numbers to Project Economy group manager upon project completion
- Support PM in compiling monthly project report
