What you will do?
The cost engineering department is now looking for a cost engineer expert, to the chassis and propulsion team
The cost engineering department is a strategic function within procurement supporting procurement, research & development and finance. Cost engineering serves to provide the organization with expert competence regarding fact-based cost analysis.
The department have an extensive experience and skills within all different types of components building up a car (plastic, metal and electronics) where the base is production methods used to produce the parts. We use calculation software’s and knowledge domains as support to calculate cost for both parts and tools.
As a cost engineer you work independently and in teams. The job includes international travel to suppliers’ manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective as well as Volvo´s offices and plants in different locations.
The team are involved in medium to heavy investments where fact-based negotiation is the base. We work with the buyers, engineer´s and our suppliers. Estimating cost is done with both engineering and business mind-set, i.e. by analysing actual hardware/technical and commercial prerequisites to understand what requirements are driving cost. You will be important for the buyer’s successful negotiations.
You and your skills
The individual we are looking for has a background from manufacturing engineering, process engineering or tool making willing to take on a new challenge. Deep knowledge about processes like machining, aluminium extrusion, light metal casting, forging, stamping and general assembly is of great interest. Experience from electrical propulsion manufacturing is also as a great merit.
You have an extensive experience of minimum five to ten years from the manufacturing industry and proven knowledge from manufacturing of chassis and propulsion component’s or tooling´s.
Your base is a technical university degree or equal relevant work experience.
Experience in quotation preparation or a role as key account manager within the automotive industry is a merit.
You are known for
On a personal note, we are looking for an analytical, open-minded, curious and outgoing personality with good communication skills. You enjoy collaboration and possess good team working skills. In addition, you need to be business oriented with a strong business acumen, great negotiation skills and an analytical mind-set.
You enjoy supporting your colleagues/customers with excellent input since their success is your success.
Our company is working on the global arena and therefore you are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
