Ultimately, it is all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo.

The cost engineering department is a strategic function within procurement supporting procurement, research & development, and finance. Cost engineering serves to provide the organization with expert competence regarding fact-based cost analysis.
The department has an extensive experience and skills within all different types of components building up a car, where the base is production methods used to produce the parts. We use calculation software’s and knowledge domains as support to calculate costs for both parts and tools.
As a cost engineer, you work independently and in teams. The job includes international travel to suppliers manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective as well as Volvo offices and plants in different locations.
The team is involved in medium to heavy investments where fact-based negotiation is the base. We work with the buyers, engineers, and suppliers. Estimating cost is done with both engineering and business mindset, i.e., by analyzing actual hardware/technical and commercial prerequisites to understand what requirements are driving cost. You will be of great importance for a successful fact-based negotiation.
