Cost Estimator/Cost Engineer, specialist in production cost for metal parts

Cost Estimating department is a strategic function within purchasing; it consists of approximately 40 experts with extensive experience and skills within all different types of production methods used within the supplier base of Volvo cars. The department uses state-of-the-art calculation software for both parts and tools.
As a Cost Estimator you will be part of the metal team who are mainly working in the body/exsterior, chassis an powertrain area.The role as a Cost Estimator serves to provide the Volvo Cars Purchasing function with specialist competence regarding fact based cost analysis on purchased parts and tooling. As a Cost Estimator you work independently and in teams. The job includes international travelling to suppliers' manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective.
We are now looking for you who have a background from manufacturing engineering, process engineering or tool making. Willing to take on new challenges within the Cost Estimating Metal team at Volvo Cars.
Main responsibilities
* Ensuring value for money when purchasing parts, by delivering cost estimates and arguments as a base for a fact based negotiation
* Calculating the piece price cost for production of parts
* Calculating the tooling cost for all VCC unique parts
* Supporting the team in important negotiations with suppliers
Required qualifications
* Technical university degree or equal relevant working experience
* At least 5-10 years of working experience
* Proven knowledge from the manufacturing or tooling industry within one or several of the following areas; Assembly, Forging, Surface treatment, Casting, Machining, Welding (arc, spot , laser), Extrusion, Sheet metal forming
* Experience in cost calculations
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written

* Good collaboration and teamwork skills
* Analytical ability
* Skilled in negotiations
