Crew for Ocean Globe Race 2023 on the boat Zobaida

S/Y Zobaida will participate in Ocean Globe Race 2023, an eight-month adventure around the world for ordinary sailors on normal yachts. Ocean Globe Race is a retro race in the spirit of the 1973 Whitbread Round the World Race, to mark the 50th anniversary of the original race.

We intend to sail Ocean Globe Race in tribute to early sailors. The instruments we are allowed to use are limited. We have a water line that is in proportion to the hull. We navigate with the help of nature. We do not rely on unlimited electricity. It is the stars, not the GPS, that will lead our way across the great oceans. This is how the competition rules have been designed – and we like them. But do not be mistaken – we are here to compete and enjoy!

S/Y Zobaida will participate in several races and rallies during 2021 and 2022, Gotland Runt and ARC+, for example. Early 2022, S/Y Zobaida will sail the Caribbean and return to Europe later that year.

If you long for the thrill of unlimited acceleration, there are other means of transportation that provide greater intoxication. The soul of sailing, we believe, is to travel in harmony with life, earth, and nature. It does not exclude an element of competition, but when speed is the only option, other values are lost. When sailing requires a crew to wear crash-proof helmets, we feel that an essential part of the soul of sailing has been lost.

The crew needs to be able to take care of and keep order on both their own and common things. It quickly becomes dangerous if there is a disorder on the equipment.
You need to have good condition.

All crew members must have basic medical education
The language on board is English.

You need to have some basic competencies:

The recruitment process will start with the application, where we need a CV and for you to answer a few questions. In the selection part, we will use the AI System Tengai for the first interview. If you pass the first interview the next step is a Personality test and a Logical test from Alva Labs. For us, the personality, and the ability to fit in the team that will be on sea for 7 months in a small boat in hard conditions Is critical! If you pass these test the next step in the recruitment process are an interview with me. The step after that is an interview with the captain of the boat. If you pass all these parts of the recruitment process, the next part is a work test in the speciality you entered in your application that you have. Following this, it will be work tests in groups and fitness tests. We will also conduct psychology evaluations and group development exercises. The final stage is short sailing with the teams, first shorter and then longer sailing, and also some competitions in Europe and in the Caribbean. All this is for us to gather the best team and have a team that will work at its best in hard conditions during the Ocean globe race in 2023.
